The essence of Government is power and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse.
Any form of art is a form of power it has impact, it can affect change – it can not only move us, it makes us move.
It is through this mysterious power that we too have our being, and we therefore yield to our neighbors, even to our animal neighbors, the same right as ourselves to inhabit this vast land.
No man deserves to be praised for his goodness, who has it not in his power to be wicked. Goodness without that power is generally nothing more than sloth, or an impotence of will.
